The Competition
This has three levels: School level, National Prelims and National Finals.
1. School Championship
- The School Championship comprises a written round which has 120 objective type questions with four options each.
- The task is to answer maximum number of questions correctly in 60 minutes.
Competition
- 4 marks will be given for every correct answer
- 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer
The Marking scheme
- Based on the written round marks, the toppers in every category from each participating school will qualify for the National Prelims.
The Qualifiers
2. National Prelims
- It is a combination of written and oral rounds.
- Written round comprises 60 questions.
- The participants should try to answer maximum number of questions in 30 minutes.
Competition
- 8 marks will be given for every correct answer
- 2 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer
The Marking scheme
Oral round comprises 25 questions. Participants are expected to answer maximum number of questions within the allotted time.
- Based on the cumulative score of both the written and oral rounds, the toppers from each category from each location will qualify for the National Finals.
The Qualifiers
3. National Finals
- For categories 1 to 6: Oral rounds with 50 questions which test the mental computing ability of the participants.
- For categories 4 to 6: A project presentation to be followed by the oral round.
Project Presentation (for CAT 4 to 6):
*Only the top ten scorers of the oral round from each of these 3 categories will participate in the presentation round.
* Every participant will be given 10 topics beforehand and shall be prepared to present all of these topics.
* On the competition day, the topic for each participant will be selected by a lot. The participant should present the topic with the help of the power point presentation before a panel, followed by a Q & A session of the panel.
The parameters on which the project presentation will be evaluated are as follows:
- Structure of the presentation
- Clarity and Style of the talk
- Enthusiasm while presenting
- Use of blackboard / mediaa
- Time management
- Interaction and contact with the audience
- Appropriateness about the content
- Clarity over the results
- Clarity of the mathematical content
- Knowledge of the topic and the conclusion
- For categories 1 to 3: The scores of the oral rounds will decide the winners.
- For categories 4 to 6: The cumulative scores of the oral round and the presentation round will decide the winners.
